BME Group enters into exclusive negotiations to acquire Saint Gobain’s building distribution activities in the Netherlands

BME Group announces that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with Saint Gobain in preparation for the acquisition of Saint-Gobain Building Distribution the Netherlands (SGBD NL). SGBD NL is active in the distribution of building materials, tiles, sanitary ware and interior finishing materials, operating under the brands Raab Karcher, De Jager Tolhoek, Tegel Groep Nederland, Galvano and Van Keulen. It has 38 sales outlets and employs over 1000 people.

BME is one of Europe’s leading building material distribution companies, active in the distribution of building materials in the Netherlands under the brands BMN and, in certain locations, Bouwmaat. The contemplated transaction is part of BME’s focused growth strategy and would complement and develop BME’s presence in the Netherlands.

The finalisation of this transaction is subject to merger control approval and consultation with the relevant social partners (including works councils) in the Netherlands. It is intended to be finalised during 2021.
