The role

We are looking for a new team member to take our Power BI capabilities to the next level. The role of this Group Power BI Specialist is twofold.

On the one hand you design and develop Power BI reports and provide insights to improve decision-making by using Power BI tools and therefore strategically contribute to the growth of the business.

On the other hand you lead the community of Opco Power BI developers by example, by providing best practices, guidelines, standards, templates, instructions and other forms of help.

The person

As a Power BI Specialist you should have extensive knowledge and experience in business intelligence, data sets, and especially the technical aspects of BI tools. You need to be able to handle a variety of tasks, including creating reports, creating dashboards, creating data models, analysing data sets, measuring and improving performance of reports and the management of Power BI tools, including the Premium Capacity.

In addition to understanding the technicalities of the Power BI suite, having a keen eye for an optimal user experience is required. You also have an intrinsic motivation to make the life of others easier and their reports better and you love to share your knowledge with your colleagues, either in writing, verbally or by providing templates and other support.

The team

In this role, you will be a part of the Group Digital team, reporting directly the Group Manager Data, responsible for driving the development of the Data platform. You will work closely with the entire Digital Team, including Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Digital Project Managers / Product Owners. You will also often work with Digital Leads and Power BI developers from Opcos.

What you do

  • Use Power BI to create dashboards and visually appealing, intuitive and interactive reports
  • Improve, debug, monitor and align Power BI reports from others
  • Write DAX queries in Power BI where needed; provide data requirements to Data Team or model the data yourself in Databricks (SQL) where possible
  • Documenting everything in Confluence
  • Keep our reports in line with our design wireframes (in Figma)
  • Monitor report usage and manage access and performance
  • Manage and monitor our Premium Capacity
  • Develop templates and other best practices
  • Document and share Power BI knowledge

Education and Experience

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • The ins and outs of Power BI, including Power BI Premium, DAX (and perhaps M, you tell us when to use what!), Tabular Editor, etc.
  • Deep understanding of Data Models
  • Focus on execution and measurable results
  • A stable career track with clear career progression within a limited number of employers
  • Experience with working in an international and matrix environment
  • Eager and ambitious with the ability to go at least one level up
  • Excellent in English and ideally in German, Dutch or French as well;  at equal qualification diversity criteria will apply in the final selection process
