BAUKING hosted seventh Trainee Camp for DACH sister companies

News release 13 July 2022

50 trainees from BME Group’s DACH region participated BAUKING’s seventh Trainee Camp

After a pandemic-related break, BAUKING held its seventh Trainee Camp for Specialist Trade for around 50 second-year trainees from BME Group’s DACH subsidiaries. The five-day Trainee Camp provided junior staff with practical training on applying building materials and took place at the ACO Academy in Rendsburg, Germany, in June. Next to trainees from BAUKING (D), apprentices from Paulsen (D), Quester (A) and BMS (CH) joined the training week for the first time. In total, approximately 50 young employees participated the Trainee Camp.

As in previous years, BAUKING involved 15 leading manufacturers in the Trainee Camp. Their task was to train the young people in workshops, aiming to support them in realising a joint large-scale construction project: Divided in five competing teams, the trainees each built their own house. “Through this concept, all participants are highly motivated and identify with their own construction site,” Angelika Netten, training officer at BAUKING, explains.

In the course of the training week, the many hardworking hands created a small BAUKING village. The end of the camp was celebrated with a roofing ceremony to which BAUKING invited over 100 high-ranking industry professionals. The trainees proudly presented their houses and could score extra points by answering expert questions. In the end, BAUKING awarded two teams for their creativity as well as their background knowledge and application of building materials.

“The trainee camp is much more than just a qualification measure. Here, the trainees get the to explore their talents and expand their technical knowhow. Moreover, we try to teach them advisory, social and methodological abilities. This doesn’t only prepare participants for their 3rd year of training but also provides them with skills and networking contacts from which they can benefit in their whole professional life.”
