Together with non-profit organization Pameijer, BME Group’s Dutch subsidiary BME Bouwmaten helps vulnerable people to reduce their distance to the labour market. Through this partnership, BME Bouwmaten offers daytime activities to people with psychosocial or psychiatric problems or a mild mental disability. By creating a stable working environment, BME Bouwmaten helps them to reintegrate into society.
Since 2016, BME Bouwmaten is collaborating with Dutch non-profit organization Pameijer, supporting vulnerable people’s reintegration into the labour market. To make their role in daytime activities a fixed part of the branch’s organization and team, BME Bouwmaten and Pameijer have created a function profile called ‘Bouwmaatje’, including prospects of a permanent job. Schiedam was the first branch where they started to engage people with psychosocial or psychiatric problems or a mild mental disability.
In the meantime, 19 people are currently working at daytime activities at Bouwmaat Schiedam and the company has also implemented the initiative at its sites in Rotterdam and Spijkenisse. Over the past years, BME Bouwmaten could help various people to get a permanent job.
Willem is one of them, you can read his story here (in Dutch). Today, BME Bouwmaten offers daytime activities or employment to approximately 30 vulnerable people, creating a stable work environment that helps them to reintegrate into society in a sustainable way.
