BME Group acquires Bouwgroep to densify its network in Belgium

On 3 January 2023, BME Group (BME) and the shareholders of Bouwgroep have reached an agreement on the sale to BME. Bouwgroep is a distributor of building materials with three locations in Flanders. The acquisition enables BME to further strengthen its collect network in the province of Antwerp and Limburg where it operates under the BMB Bouwmaterialen brand.

Bouwgroep is a family business owned by sisters Sabine and Veronique Jansen. They are active in the distribution of a broad portfolio of building materials and is a member of the Gedimat purchasing group.

BME is one of Europe’s leading distribution companies in building materials and active in Belgium under the brands ‘BMB Bouwmaterialen’ (General Building materials) and ‘STG’ (Sanitary, Heating and Plumbing materials) formerly known as ‘Sax, Lambrechts and Schrauwen’.

BMB Bouwmaterialen is headquartered in Antwerp and has grown to a network of thirteen locations in the Flemish region, employing 280 employees.

The acquisition of Bouwgroep is the 4th acquisition in Belgium since BME became an independent company in 2019, and the 27th acquisition across the Group.
